REACH

REGISTRATION, EVALUATION, AUTHORIZATION, RESTRICTION OF CHEMICALS

The EU REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 sets out comprehensive requirements for protecting human health and the environment. Key to this approach is the principle of "no data, no market access". Within the REACH context, we operate primarily as a downstream user of complex products, focusing in particular on substances of very high concern (SVHCs) in the goods we manufacture. We maintain ongoing dialogue with our suppliers to fulfil our compliance obligations. Any SVHCs present in our products pose no risk to health or the environment when used as intended and typically require no safety notices.

ROHS

RESTRICTION OF HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES

The EU RoHS Directive limits the use of specific hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). The regulation establishes permissible thresholds and sets out exemptions for substances including heavy metals, flame retardants and plasticisers.

PFAS

PER- AND POLYFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES

The group of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, encompasses over 10,000 different synthetic chemicals according to the most recent European estimates, though this definition differs in other parts of the world. Policymakers and scientific bodies are actively seeking strategies to reduce the amount of hazardous PFAS released into the environment. Due to the complexity and scale of potential restrictions, expert groups are already working at pace to develop socially and economically viable roadmaps for implementing these strategies. Some PFAS are already regulated, for example under the EU REACH Regulation.
