Spotless Results, Smarter Operations for College Dishwashing
A new Meiko twin-basket hood dishwasher has transformed kitchen operations at the College of West Anglia in King’s Lynn, earning high praise from the catering team for its performance, reliability and ease of use.
“A noticeable difference to our kitchen operations”
“Having recently installed a new Meiko dishwasher in our Further Education College, we’ve seen a noticeable improvement in our kitchen operations.
“It is fast, reliable and delivers consistently spotless results. The machine is incredibly easy to use and maintain, and Meiko were professional and efficient throughout the project, from the initial discussions through to installation. We’re now looking at installing Meiko machines at our other locations.”

Replacing an ageing system
“We replaced an ageing rack conveyor dishwasher that was costing the College significant amounts in annual repairs with a more ergonomic solution that will be a game changer for years to come,” says Meiko UK Regional Sales Manager Jason Wade.
“Working alongside Swift Maintenance, which services the College’s kitchen equipment, we removed the old machine and installed the new one over a single weekend. Beforehand, we carried out a detailed site survey to identify the best replacement for the existing rack conveyor system.
Making better use of the available space
“The dishwash area had limited space, so the Meiko M-iClean HXL Climate twin-basket hood machine offered several advantages over separate hood machines or another rack conveyor system. Most importantly, it freed up enough space to install a new pre-wash sink, helping to reduce chemical and energy consumption over the lifetime of the machine.”
Designed for efficiency
Jason Wade continues, “The automated hood makes the machine exceptionally easy to use. It raises and lowers automatically through basket detection while ensuring the integrated heat recovery system operates at maximum efficiency. This not only reduces energy consumption but also helps keep the dishwash area significantly cooler—an important benefit in a compact workspace.
“Capable of washing up to 120 racks per hour, the Meiko M-iClean HXL Climate easily handles the College’s daily workload of trays, pots and pans, GN containers and crockery.
Simpler cleaning and maintenance
“Daily maintenance has also been greatly simplified. Meiko’s blue colour-coding clearly identifies the components that require removal for cleaning, including the wash arms and filters, making routine maintenance quicker and staff training much easier. The more compact layout has also created valuable additional storage space for the College.”
The successful installation demonstrates how selecting the right warewashing solution can improve efficiency, reduce operating costs and create a better working environment for staff. By combining increased capacity with lower energy consumption, simpler maintenance and a more ergonomic layout, the new Meiko system is well placed to support the College’s catering operations for many years to come.
