Meiko to showcase latest innovations at Interschutz: hygiene specialist demonstrates how to clean PPE whilst protecting personnel

, Category Cleaning & disinfection technology

German machine builder Meiko, known for its expertise in equipping self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) workshops, will be unveiling a host of innovations at this year's Interschutz. Across three exhibition stands, the company will present a series of forward-looking solutions for cleaning and disinfecting respiratory protective equipment such as SCBA as well as other types of PPE. Stand L21 in hall 14 will feature the latest addition to Meiko's TopClean product family alongside new features for its existing machines. For the first time, Meiko will also be showcasing mobile solutions at the open-air area between halls 11 and 12, and at the outdoor venue for the FireFit European Championships between halls 7 and 9. Perfectly aligned with the fair’s motto of “Safeguarding tomorrow”, Meiko's innovative solutions will be on show at Interschutz from 1 to 6 June, 2026.

Among this year's highlights, Meiko will be presenting a new prototype solution for the safe and efficient cleaning of respiratory protective equipment – in a footprint of less than one square metre. This machine is particularly well suited to smaller fire services with a relatively low throughput. The PPE decon machine TopClean D reliably removes combustion residue from SCBA sets using its reversing wash system, and an optional brush now ensures an even more thorough clean. A further novelty is a prototype wastewater filter system that captures contaminants before they reach the sewerage network. All these new developments can be explored at stand L21 in hall 14, as part of Meiko's comprehensive presentation of cleaning solutions for SCBA sets and other PPE used in fire service and industrial applications. The workflow from the dirty side to the clean side of an SCBA workshop will be illustrated through a wide range of real-world planning examples. Visitors are also welcome to enjoy a freshly poured beer whilst discussing their projects with Meiko's international team, who between them speak at least five different languages.
The open-air area between halls 11 and 12 will showcase Meiko’s mobile SCBA workshop. Developed in collaboration with specialist vehicle manufacturer Mosolf, the dedicated trailer is designed specifically for extended incidents such as wildfires. Divided into a dirty side and a clean side, it offers robust protection against cross-contamination as well as the full functionality of a properly equipped SCBA workshop – covering cleaning, disinfection, drying and testing of respiratory protective equipment. Live demonstrations will give visitors the chance to see the process in action and even try out individual steps for themselves.
The FireFit European Championships attract thousands of spectators each year. This year's edition will be held at Interschutz, with firefighters from around the world competing in both individual and team events every day of the fair. FireFit Europe supplies participants with the necessary SCBA sets, which are serviced in a dedicated transport vehicle kitted out with Meiko equipment. This mobile SCBA workshop is the ideal plug-and-play solution for the roughly ten events that FireFit Europe organises annually across several countries. Designed for fast, flexible deployment, it allows staff to clean equipment in a sheltered environment regardless of the weather. At this year's fair, a screen positioned close to the competition area will give visitors a real-time view of PPE being cleaned and prepared inside the vehicle. During breaks between events, visitors will also be able to enter the vehicle in small groups and inspect the equipment at close quarters.
Visitors looking for innovative solutions to clean and service their PPE will find exactly what they need at the Meiko stand at Interschutz from 1 to 6 June 2026. Appointments can be booked in advance at meiko.com/en/interschutz.
